Established in June 2014, originally as a ‘live event’ auction, by Nigel and Julia, Isle of Wight Auctions had rapidly become the ‘go-to’ platform for both buyers and sellers seeking a seamless, secure and exciting auction experience.
The Challenge
Isle of Wight Auctions lacked a functional, user-friendly system for hosting online auctions. Their existing setup was outdated and difficult to use, limiting engagement and making it hard to manage listings and bids effectively.
Solutions
We designed and built a custom website that makes it easy to list lots, register users, and manage bids smoothly. With a focus on clarity and functionality, the new platform delivers a seamless auction experience that works just as well on mobile as it does on desktop.
The project started with detailed wireframing and user journey mapping to ensure a smooth and intuitive experience from the outset.
Before diving into design, we took the time to map out the user experience and structure through wireframes. This allowed us to define clear user pathways and ensure every interaction — from viewing auction lots to placing a bid — felt simple and intuitive. Starting with this foundation meant the final site was built on solid UX thinking from the ground up.
With many users browsing and bidding on the go, mobile experience was a top priority for Isle of Wight Auctions. The site needed to be just as functional and intuitive on mobile as it is on desktop.
We designed the mobile experience to be fast, clear, and easy to navigate — whether users were scrolling through lots, registering to bid, or taking part in a live auction. Touch-friendly buttons, simplified layouts, and streamlined interactions ensure a smooth experience across all devices. This responsive approach not only improves usability but also helps drive engagement from a wider audience.
